Welcome aboard the website of modern day Australian classic country
singer Ralph Parker. Ralph is an ordinary guy with an extraordinary
vocal ability. Ralph had his foundation in country
music from the late 50's listening to vinyl records his mum had of some
of the early and legendary country artists of that era such as Jimmy
Rogers, Hank Locklin, Hank Snow, Slim Dusty and others. It was when Ralph was in his teenage
years in the mid 60's that he was really exposed to the Bakersfield
sounds of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. Their music was contagious,
heart rending and above all real life situations all rolled up into the
lyrics to make the music a must listen to. Times were hard, life was tough in those years,
Ralph remembers how his
Dad Stanley worked hard to feed a family of five children while mum Letty
was the ideal mother and housewife who was responsible for making
ends meet and if you happen to be from that era you will agree yep times
were hard then but you'll also agree that those really were the good
times.
Ralph's
professional career began in the early 70's when he became involved
in a band in
the French state of Pondicherry in India. While
Ralph was one of the front men for the band, "The Purple Haze" his
forte was country music. In addition he also played the guitar, sax,
clarinet and harmonica in the band. The band members spent a good
ten years together and grew to be very popular. It was during this
time that he wrote the hit song "Angels don't stay" which was
recently published in his Nashville cut album, "A High Price for
low livin". Ralph has also penned other country songs titled,"An
Old Valentine" and "Thinkin 'Bout The Good Times"
which have also found their way on his album mentioned above. If
there was anyone who could sing on par with a Yank it is Ralph, you have got to hear
him in real life, he has the ability to tear at your heart strings, no kidding. In fact while you are here click on the CD's
button at the bottom of this page and listen to his tracks. Do
not be forced to buy Ralph's music if you don't want to, you're
visiting, so stay and enjoy the music if that's what you are here
for. Click on the "Bookings" button grab his email address and
drop him a line if you feel like doing that too, because he is human
too and would surely appreciate the interaction. If you are lucky
enough, you may even walk away with his music at lower prices than
he is selling them for, just for being nice.
When Ralph moved to Australia in the late 80's it was work and no
play due to his commitment to raise his young family. He later joined
bands in Sydney and played the club circuit for awhile but Ralph
wanted more than just being a part of a band, he wanted to be unique
and he was that to such an extent that in 2005 he
gave away the band thing and decided to go solo doing what he loved
best, country music. That was the turning point in his career. He recorded three other albums of which one was a
"Tribute to Buck Owens" his very first idol. a classic country album
titled, "I'll share my world with you" and a
country rock album titled, "Country Jamboree" all of which
were instrumental in getting him to Nashville in late 2006 to record
his album "A High Price For Low Livin'. Ralph has establised
his presence in Australia and around the world no doubt and has
touched many hearts with his music. Ralph has made appearances at a
few charity performances in New South Wales one of which was for the
NSW Fire Brigade
not too long ago and is available to appear at your next party or
function too, so give him a go, try his music for a change.
Ralph sends his appreciation and thanks to all those people who have
